War is ugly… It doesn’t have any boundaries. It doesn’t have compassion. It tries to dehumanize everyone involved. It makes life painful. It tugs at the very souls of those involved, trying to make people lose hope and turn to hatred…
I just want to quote my Ukrainian colleagues to show how deep their pain is and how resilient they are:
I want to live. Recently, when the shellings got worse, I realized how much I want to live.
I feel the presence of death everywhere around. It is so close.
The closeness to death makes me appreciate life more. I see what I never saw before: beautiful flowers, little insects, and bees. Bees continue to deliver honey; they go from flower to flower and continue to live. We want to live.
Yesterday during a weekly case study/intervision meeting, we found out that the National Academy of Sciences building, “the heart of Ukrainian Education”, in downtown Kyiv was ruined, along with daycares and schools around the country. There are casualties. It’s so hard to accept that in this war, the targets are children, teachers, professors, and millions of innocent people.
I bow before my Ukrainian colleagues who continue to serve and support others despite what they live through. I am in awe of their resilience.
Peace. Peace. Peace.
